GETTING STARTED

What were your biggest concerns when deciding to start-up a recruitment business?

“Cashflow was the biggest concern. With limited funds to work with and live on, as well wanting to spend as much time as possible on business development, I was concerned about spending a lot of time researching and negotiating with different suppliers needed at the early stages of a company; website, branding, emails, etc.”

What security did 3R give you?

“I loved the fact that there was only very minimal up-front cost. It meant that I could get to work straight away on day one, knowing that I had a team of people working on the ‘machinery’ that sits behind any recruitment operation. I didn’t have to have deep pockets to get started — if things took longer than I thought to get started, I wouldn’t run out of cash!”

What was the most valuable support during the onboarding of your business?

“In the early stage it is natural to feel a little isolated and anxious when moving from a large company to working alone. The most valuable support, quite honestly, was having someone at the end of the phone just to have a chat about how it was all going. My account manager, Kim, was always so positive, upbeat and a joy to speak with in those early days. For me, the greatest support was knowing I could pick up the phone and chat to someone, and knowing that someone had the set-up all in hand.”

TECHNOLOGY

How did using the CRM impact your start-up business?

“The CRM is great. Easy to use, and adaptable for different types of recruitment business. The buzzwords allow us to categorise data however we want to, and the possibilities are endless.”

How did using the Back-office impact your start-up business?

“The Back-office is so simple and easy to use, for all stakeholders. It barely needs any action or attention from me because it all works so smoothly — exactly how I want it! The timesheet system is very good — I have had literally no instances of missing timesheets or people not being paid on time since I started in March.”

How did outsourcing benefit your recruitment business?

“Quite simply, we wouldn’t have been able to offer contract/temp recruitment if we hadn’t partnered with 3R. With a significant shift in the education recruitment market towards contract, this has been invaluable.”

SUPPORT & GROWTH

What additional support from 3R did you value?

“3R went out of their way to help with the segmenting of data. I feel like they really went above and beyond, spending many hours working on setting up the CRM in the required way with excellent results.”

How did working with 3R help you grow your agency?

“It’s still early days for us, but having 3R onboard is reassuring and gives us the support, resources and confidence to power ahead.”

FINAL THOUGHT…

“Be very clear about what you stand for — what makes your new venture unique. Some markets are at saturation point as far as recruitment companies are concerned — be sure that your contribution is a positive one that adds value to your sector. If it does, my advice is — DO IT!

Make a list of what it is that you would actually need from an employer in order to achieve, and you’ll find that 3R are able to provide pretty much everything. The difference is that you are in control, and you reap all of the benefits of your hard work.

Don’t work on commission, take control of your earnings!”
